Sugar Free Berry Pie

Ingredients:

1 double pie crust
2 lbs of mixed berries
2 apples peeled, cored, and sliced thinly
1/2 C. flour
2 tsp. orange zest
1/4 tsp orange extract
2 tsp. cinnamon
3 tbs butter

Directions

1. In large saucepan, combine the berries, apples, whichever kind you prefer, the flour, orange zest, orange extract and cinnamon.

2.  Stir over medium heat until thickened, stirring continuously so the berries don't scorch.

4.  Place bottom of crust in pie pan.

5.  When berry mixture is thickened, pour into lined pie dish and top with butter.

6.  Top with second pie crust dough and crimp edges, trimming excess with a sharp knife.

7.  Cut slits in the top of the pie to vent the steam.

8.  Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes or until crust beginsn to brown.

*  This is a great recipe requiring no extra sweetener.  The fruit alone sweetens this berry pie.  This is a great idea to try for other sugar free recipes.
